Lectures, discussions, catalogue launch and film
UNFAIR PROJECT’s one day event/ finissage on June 6 will include a lecture and debate program that strives to provoke stimulating and intellectual discussion around art, cultural value and the free market. Together with writers, critics, politicians, art initiatives and other intermediaries, we can all brainstorm new directions for the arts.

13.30 p.m.: The Rise, a short film by Nina Fischer and Maroan el Sani.

15.15 p.m.: Pim van Klink and Arnold Heertje will discuss cultural value and the free market economy

16.15 p.m.: Anne Berk, member of Platform ZonderKunstenaarsGeenKunst (Platform WithoutArtistsNoArt), will address results of neoliberal art policy: Is there less money available for art production today?
16.30 p.m.: Panel discussion: How is the intrinsic value of art recognized in government art policy? With Han ten Broeke (VVD) and Hans van Leeuwen (SP)
17.15 p.m.: Q&A session including a brainstorm with the participating speakers on innovative survival strategies
17.45 p.m.: Short break
18.00 p.m.: Presentation by Susan Jones about a-n: The Artists Information Company (UK). Jones will reflect in what ways a-n has worked effectively for artists over the last twenty-eight years within changing political climates and cultural environments. Language: English.
18.45 p.m.: Dinner / organic BBQ snacks
20.00 p.m.: Walk the line, a performance by Camilo Barreto and Kay Patru. Two bodies investigate a territory, leaving traces of their journey in sound and drawings.
20.30 p.m.: Party!

Parachutartists Foundation and De Service Garage are proud to present UNFAIR PROJECT, an international group exhibition with performances, lectures and discussions exploring the value and function of art in ‘the age of the art fair’.
Intentionally coinciding with Amsterdam’s annual art fair Art Amsterdam, UNFAIR PROJECT draws on experimental, non-commercial and socially engaged art. Installation, performance and interactive works challenge the conventions of commercial art often shown in art fairs. With this exhibition, UNFAIR PROJECT addresses the delicate correlations between the artist, the intermediary and the public.

20.00 p.m.: Introduction by Donna Wolf, founder of Déiska & the Collection, an art fund bringing together emerging artists and emerging collectors. Wolf will highlight historical examples and future potential of alternative forms for financing art, addressing contemporary issues in today’s society.
